Alicia B.
February 6th, 2010, I lost a very, very dear and close friend of mine, Alicia, due to complications resulting from a double lung transplant. I had the honor, as well as my family, to have known her since I was a very young child, probably since I was three years old. I've never known anyone for that long except my family members. She was born with and suffered with Cystic Fibrosis all of her life. She constantly had coughing fits, coughed up mucus, had to give herself mist treatments to help her breathe, and had more trips to the hospital than anyone I've ever known. And despite all of the hardships she faced on a DAILY, minute to minute basis, she never gave up on her dreams or life! She showed everyone what STRENGTH is really about!! She was a clothing designer who had an eye for anything vintage, she was also incredibly giving, hilarious, beautiful, and very much into her Swiss Heritage! She loved dancing and laughing as much as me, so we spent much of our time doing alot of that as well as quoting our favorite movies together, and baking cupcakes! We shared our innermost dreams, secrets and feelings about life with each other without feeling judged. She also LOVED her pomeranian, Suggie who was at her side up until her last breath. Today is her BIRTHDAY and even though she is gone, she is always at the forefront of my thoughts. I miss her more than words can ever express. Even though it's still difficult to understand why her life ended, I have no doubt she is in a beautiful place with her beloved Suggie, with no worries or pain, dancing away, and the happiest she's ever been! I'm so grateful for our special friendship and memories together! I love you so much Alicia, Happy Birthday! xoxox
